〔Unit Project 1〕My Important Artifact

My artifact is a CD of Hey!Say!JUMP. Hey!Say!JUMP is 8 member male idol group. I got it as a Christmas present from my parents when I was 6th grade elementary school student. The CD is recorded "Give Me Love", "Glorious" and "It's sure to be sunny tomorrow" in English ("Ashitahareruya" in Japanese). "Give Me Love" is a song that sings of "true love" in a sad yet powerful way. "Glorious" is a cool song about their burning passion. "It's sure to be sunny tomorrow" is a song that heartwarming support song. Any song is different type song. The CD feature is square. The CD jacket is group members line up in a row.  The CD case is scar because I have used it many times. Also, the CD includes a lyrics booklet. Moreover, a poster was included as an appendix. The CD is round and it is a small round hole in the middle. Color of the surface of the CD pale green.

I would like to talk about my story about the CD. I'll talk about how I received the CD. When I was 6th grade elementary school student, I watched a drama. Then I liked one person in the drama. I knew that he is a member of Hey!Say!JUMP. The more I investigated them, the more I fell in love with them. My parents saw me, and give me the CD in theme song.

"Merry Christmas! Open this box." My parents say.

"Thank you, mom, dad! I 'm very happy."

I was so happy that I could dance to heaven. I got my first CD. I listened to the songs many times, so the CD case is a little scar. My favorite song out of the three is "It's sure to be sunny tomorrow". This is because, this is a song that affirms myself and supports me even when I'm worried or having hard time.

When I was a student, I was not going well about studying or club activities. There were many times when I felt extremely depressed, but I listened this song each time. Every lyric resonates with me, my favorite lyrics are "Now, let's walk believing only in you than anyone else, I need a true self that doesn't decorate as much as when I get lost". They didn't deny me that nothing was going well, and they kindly supported me. From this song, I learned the importance of believing in myself.

The first problem is that the purchase of CDs is decreasing. In the world, digital distribution of music spreading, and CD production and sales are declining. Certainly, digital music and subscriptions make it easy to get music. We can listen to a lot of wherever we are. However, CDs do not just contain sound sources. For example, there are lyrics booklets, artist's photo booklets, promotion video and making, and buyer benefits. We can enjoy music on digital, but CDs makes us fun not only music but also various benefits. If we really like artists, we should buy CDs.

The second is what producers can do to increase CD sales. As mentioned in the first place, of CDs themselves have been decreasing years. Therefore, I think about what we should do to sell CDs. First, it is to enrich the buyer's benefits. For example, give buyers tickets for events where they can interact with artists. It is also to provide digital services to some extent. In the first place, I mentioned the disadvantage that CD sales will decrease, but there is also an advantage that we can listen to many songs easily. By lifting the ban on a few songs, not all songs, it will be an opportunity to get to know the artist and encourage us to purchase CDs. We should enjoy with digital service and CDs.

  1. I feel that CDs are more valuable and more memorable to the music than listening to music digitally. In addition, it is necessary to convey the benefits of listenig to music on CDs so that CDs themselves do not disappear.
